Prompts

(Electroshock stimulation for the genius in you)

Here’s the deal:  Take one of the following prompts, write to it, and send it to us with the “prompt response” in the subject line.  Once we’ve gotten over the overwhelming emotional impact of reading work written just for us, we’ll publish the best and shiniest, most creative and interesting.  If enough of you participate, we’ll publish special collected issues of prompt-driven writing.  “Isn’t this a little amateur?” you ask.  “Not at all,” we reply, with an annoying joviality that gives you the suspicion we’ve been beer-bribed again.  “Writing is about responding to the prompts life sets.  Just consider us life itself and write away.  Besides,” at this point our spirits fall, visibly.  “We’re college students and need something to do.”

Prompts will come, prompts will go.   Got an idea?  Drop us a line and suggest one.

And, yes, it’s perfectly acceptable to write to a prompt you’ve suggested.

Write a Short Story or a Poem in the Style of Hemingway.
